I was trained as a doctor at the University of Benin, Nigeria and then did my general surgical and ENT training in London and Cambridge. I joined the North Thames otolaryngology specialist training programme in 1997.
I spent a year in the University of Utah, Salt Lake City doing a fellowship in otology and neuro-otology. During this time I received the American Neuro-otology Society Fellows Award for 2002.
I designed the "Addenbrooke's Owa grommet" (tiny ventilation tube) for the treatment of glue ear (middle ear disease). I have presented at many national and international conferences on a broad range of ENT topics and have taught on sinus and ear surgery courses in the UK and overseas.
