I believe in an individualised approach to each patient utilising the wide range of conservative or surgical techniques that are available. For many patients minimally invasive bunion surgery can provide distinct advantages and I have been involved in driving this forward and am a recognised national leader in this field. I teach this technique to other surgeons both in the UK and the USA.
My orthopaedic training in the UK was completed by undertaking fellowships with the leaders in foot and ankle surgery in Europe and the USA. I was awarded the top prize by the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society in 2008 for this work.
This was a unique experience, the unit in the USA is world-leading and has set many of the standards in our field. They continue to pioneer the latest techniques and it was a privilege to be involved in some of these. Their training in complex and revision reconstruction, especially sports injuries in elite athletes and arthroplasty, is unmatched elsewhere. In Dublin I focussed on deformity correction especially forefoot surgery and I have been invited to publish my work on bunion surgery and lecture around the world from America to China.
I continuously evaluate my work by maintaining a database for research and audit and frequently publish in foot and ankle surgery and medical law and have won a number of national awards for this research. I was named as a finalist in the prestigious Laing Buisson Awards in 2013 for the Medical Practice category.

I love to travel and have lived and worked in seven different countries. This seems to have been handed on to my two young children who also love to go to new places, particularly if they have goats or rock pools.
Having grown up in Cardiff I am a passionate follower of the Bluebirds and the Blues despite the mixed fortunes that go along with this and could often be seen weeping into my Bovril on the Grange Town End.
