I’m an experienced consultant ophthalmic surgeon based at University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire. I have an expertise in modern cataract and glaucoma surgery and also provide consultation for general ophthalmology conditions.
I specialise in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma and offer advanced laser and surgical techniques for glaucoma including modern trabeculectomy, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (iStent®) and SLT (Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty). I am also available for consultation for a range of general ophthalmic conditions.
I have expertise in cataract surgery both for routine and complex cataracts. I provide a high specification specialised cataract surgery with micro-incision, no sutures, and an option of no-injection anaesthesia.
I also offer options of Premium lenses- Multifocal and Extended Depth of Focus lenses (to reduce dependence on glasses) and Toric lenses (to correct astigmatism).
I have made numerous governance changes and introduced innovative ways of working, at the university hospital, during my tenure as the clinical lead for cataract surgery for many years.
After graduation from medical school with a first prize, I have been in field of ophthalmology for 28 years. I have received the highest quality training at premier institutes, including specialist training from Oxford and higher specialist and advanced training in complex glaucoma and cataract surgery from Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre (BMEC).
I went on further to do an advanced fellowship from Manchester Eye Hospital and gained extensive experience in modern surgical and laser techniques for cataracts and glaucoma.
I was awarded the coveted Birmingham Eye Foundation Roper-Hall Prize Medal in 2004 and have previously received distinction in assessment by the International council of Ophthalmology.
I have an active interest in training juniors and provides teaching and surgical training for the registrars. I have been the regional Quality lead for the School of Ophthalmology, Health Education West Midlands, departmental lead for postgraduate ophthalmology education, and Lead for QIPS (quality, innovation, productivity and safety) and clinical audit.
I am driven by delivering patient centred service, in a caring way, and always aims for providing the best management with high standards of safety.

I have been active in Ophthalmic research and am an author of more than 20 peer-reviewed publications, a published thesis from my research during MD, and also chapters in a book on cataract surgery in difficult situations.
I am a principal investigator for the multicentre randomised multicentre studies; TAGS (Treatment of Advanced Glaucoma Study) and EAGLE (Effectiveness of early lens extraction in angle-closure glaucoma). I regularly audited my work and have presented at international and national meetings and have been an invited speaker and international faculty.
