Virtual consultations:
I have vast experience of plastic surgery over 25 years and as a consultant over 14 years. My training profile includes working in prestigious units of the UK in all major centres such as London, Birmingham, Glasgow, Cambridge, Devon, and Currently in Liverpool. I do most of the reconstructive and aesthetic range including breast reconstruction, skin cancers, facial palsy, hand surgery and all aspects of cosmetic/reconstructive surgery.
My training started in 1993 after I did my post-graduation ie FRCS, minimum entry criteria for plastic surgery training. After 12 years of training at different levels I successfully completed the higher surgical training programme in Plastic surgery leading to the award of CCST (certificate of completion of surgical training) in 2004 and was appointed as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Whiston Hospital, Liverpool in 2005 (a seal of approval of completion of training to the highest level).
I also completed fellowships in oncoplastic breast surgery (dealing with various conditions and aesthetics of breast surgery) and cosmetic surgery (including breast enlargement). My post-graduation includes FRCS General surgery, FRCS Plastic surgery, MSC in health information sciences.
I am actively involved in teaching, training charity and advancing the speciality. I am examiner for Royal college of surgeons, part of standards setting agency in plastic surgery, and was programme director for plastic surgery for six years in Mersey deanery. I am faculty member for international and national courses including cadaveric training courses, examination preparation courses and overseas training.
I enjoy voluntary work and it includes regular overseas projects to train and develop specialties in different units in Pakistan. This started after I went for voluntary work after the major earthquake in 2005. I have been an invited faculty member to Greece and Egypt.
My philosophy of a patient is that 'a happy patient means a happy surgeon' and thank God as a senior consultant I enjoy a large number of happy patients and successful trainees who have now become consultants. I believe the key is an honest, open and compassionate approach to critical analysis of the problem and appreciation of the aesthetics to devise a strategy with attention to detail. I strongly believe in informed empowerment of the patients by giving them detailed and honest facts. I don’t believe in forcing or rushing any treatments. I respect and encourage the patients with compassion and empathy and encourage that they are actively involved in the decision that is best for them.
Plastic surgery is a unique specialty because it is dependent on technique rather than any particular body region. It requires various skills including in depth theoretical knowledge of body anatomy and function, artistic appreciation of concepts of beauty and harmony of different body parts, and very refined and sophisticated surgical techniques with thorough knowledge of tissue blood supply, healing characteristics and moulding ability (hence the term plastic surgery). It is one specialty which requires very long and intense training and is different from simple cosmetic surgery which may have very limited scope.

I have extensively published in peer reviewed journals and described many innovative novel techniques including Muscle Sparing Latissimus Dorsi muscle flap for breast reconstruction, new techniques of nipple reconstruction, personalised modifications for breast reduction surgery which I presented with long term results. In addition, I also described many novel techniques for hand surgery. This is all because of the detailed knowledge I posses of the anatomy of the human body and my ability to analyse the problem and utilise various techniques to the best advantage.
I have over 25 publications in peer reviewed international journals. I am a regular part of the interfaith discussions in Saint Helens College and various other events to build bridges across different communities. I am actively supportive of various charities.
