Specialises in

  • Hip replacement surgery
  • Joint pain treatment (joint injections)
  • Knee arthroscopy surgery
  • Knee replacement

I have more than 16 years of experience in a high volume specialist centre with excellent outcomes. Your treatment starts with a careful assessment and diagnosis with surgery only where indicated. My practice is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of conditions of the hip and knee. I have particular interest in painful joint conditions including osteoarthritis, torn cartilages / mechanical problems and provide keyhole surgical solutions for those conditions suitable for it.

I regularly perform joint replacement procedures for both the hip and knee. I have expertise and experience in the management of complex primary joint reconstruction and revision surgery for the failed/worn out joint replacement.

I have performed in excess of 6,000 hip and knee replacements; with 421 procedures last year. I am actively involved in advancement of the patient experience with enhanced recovery and the use of muscle/tissue sparing surgical approaches/small incision surgery. I use high performing implants with an excellent track record and predictable outcomes. I contribute to systems to improve outcomes and quality, for example I submit data on 100% of cases to the UK National Joint Register. This is the largest database of its type in the world and contains in excess of 4.5 million records of procedures performed in the UK.

I am an established consultant having been appointed to the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry in 2004 after successful completion of the West Midlands Higher Specialist Training scheme and the highly respected Cavendish Hip Fellowship based in Sheffield.

As Clinical Lead, I am Chair of the RJAH Arthroplasty group at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry. I am DI for the Human Tissue Authority licence at Oswestry with particular reference to safe procurement and storage of donated bone for transplantation.

I am actively involved in training of the next generation of surgeons as part of the West Midlands training scheme at Oswestry. This programme has a very high rate of candidate success.
