Specialises in
Virtual consultations:
I studied Medicine at the University of Wales College of Medicine and qualified in 1993. After undertaking my junior surgical training in South Wales, I moved to Leicester and completed both my senior surgical training and a higher degree in cancer research. My interests and expertise are weight loss surgery, upper gastrointestinal surgery and hernia repairs - both laparoscopic and open-end endoscopy, in addition to minor surgical procedures. To further these skills, I spent a year gaining specialist experience in Upper Gastrointestinal and Obesity Surgery in the University Hospitals of Leeds under the supervision of international experts in these fields.
I gained expertise in laparoscopic gastric cancer surgery during my time in Leeds and by visiting the Cancer Institute Hospital of the Japanese Foundation For Cancer Research in Tokyo. I have a special clinical interest in the treatment of Reflux Disease and formed part of the inaugural UK Reflux Interest Group. I implanted the first The LINX ® System device in the East Midlands and the first Endostim device in the UK, both of these new procedures to treat Reflux.
I was awarded the first British Obesity Surgical Society Bariatric Surgical Fellowship in the UK and hold a certificate in Laparoscopic Obesity Surgery from the European School of Laparoscopic Surgery in Brussels.
