MB. BSc, MCh, FRCSI, FRCS (Gen Surg)
I have been a consultant surgeon for 21 years. I am a recent past president of the Liverpool and North West Surgical Society.
I was appointed as a consultant colorectal and general surgeon on the Wirral in 1998. I have a major interest in inflammatory bowel disease and surgical nutrition as well as hernia surgery and abdominal wall reconstruction. I perform a full range of colorectal procedures and anorectal surgery for fissures, fistula and haemorrhoids as well as surgery for colorectal cancer and diverticula disease.
A graduate and fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, I carried out surgical research in the USA before training in London and Cambridge. I won a one year clinical fellowship in colorectal surgery at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic, Ohio before returning to the UK to take up my consultancy.
I am a past President of the Royal Society of Medicine section of coloproctology and was on the Executive of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland for whom I chaired the multidisciplinary clinical committee.
I teach hernia surgery nationally and internationally. I am an invited lecturer on many different topics in colorectal, general and hernia surgery.
