I am a consultant gynaecologist at Spire Hartswood private hospital in Brentwood, Essex, offering private gynaecology surgery in our clean and comfortable private hospital.
My private gynaecology practice at Spire Hartswood Hospital in Brentwood, Essex, includes care for women who are suffering from heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia). I offer a range of treatments from the Mirena coil (Intrauterine System or IUS) and endometrial ablation using the latest NovaSure technique, through to hysterectomy. I also specialise in post-childbirth pelvic floor trauma and the treatment of vaginal prolapse and incontinence.
In addition, I offer keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery for pelvic pain, treatment for fibroids and the menopause. I emphasise listening as the most important part of the consultation and all new private patients will have a half-hour appointment, at Spire Hartswood Hospital, Brentwood, Essex. This enables me to individualise the care best suited for my patients' needs and well being.
I am now a consultant gynaecologist and obstetrician at Basildon University Hospital in Essex. My additional responsibilities include being lead clinician for risk management; a member of the Labour Ward Forum and Policy Steering Committee, clinical lead for research in obstetrics and gynaecology, principal investigator in the Twin Birth Study. My teaching activities include being an undergraduate tutor and course organiser for the Essex General Practitioner Masterclass in Gynaecology and the Essex Perineal Suturing Workshop for Midwives.
After graduating from medical school in Ibadan University College Hospital in Nigeria, I completed my early postgraduate training in the East Midlands and London. I worked as a research fellow in genito-urinary medicine at St Mary's Hospital, London from 1991 to 1992. Having decided to pursue a career in obstetrics and gynaecology, I joined the South East Thames rotational training scheme in 1994, becoming a senior registrar at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital in 1997. I have a Masters degree in Prenatal Genetics & Fetal Medicine from the University of London and a Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Risk Management from Loughborough University 2008.

Like many from my generation my parents came over to the UK from Nigeria to study and my three siblings and I were all born and brought up here. We lived in Islington and my parents juggled work, part-time studies and bringing up four children admirably. During the week we stayed with carers/foster parents in Essex and at weekends we stayed at home. My mother qualified as a teacher and my father as a barrister and I believe the admiration I have for both of them has given me my drive. We returned to Nigeria for family reasons during my teenage years and it was during this period that I was able to appreciate my family background and origins. This was a rich experience for me and enabled me to have a greater appreciation and understanding of life. I am a family man with two children around whom our lives revolve. I enjoy exercise and non-competitive cycling. I have participated in local cycle rides for charity and the London to Brighton Bike ride on a number of occasions to raise funds for charity. My wife has also participated in the 'Moon walk' for breast cancer.
