In March 2012, I was appointed as consultant hand and orthopaedic surgeon at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, North Wales. I completed my orthopaedic training in Manchester and Lancashire, with a 12-month advanced training post in hand surgery, based at the tertiary hand units of Salford and Wythenshawe, where I obtained considerable experience in microsurgery and plastic surgery.
In 2011, I completed the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH), University of Manchester Diploma in Hand Surgery, and was the first consultant hand surgeon to be appointed in Wales with this qualification.
My trauma interests include nerve injuries, complex upper limb fractures, flexor tendon repair and reconstruction. My elective practice is predominantly made up of complex hand and wrist disorders, with particular interests in Dupuytren's disease, small joint replacement in the hand, sports injuries and disorders affecting the musician's hand.
I am a keen teacher and an educational supervisor to trainee junior doctors in Ysbyty Gwynedd.
My research interests include digital motion capture of hand function and dysfunction, the use of computational visualisation to aid rehabilitation and record data.
