MB BS, BSc, MRCS (Eng), FRCS (T&O)
I graduated from St George’s Hospital Medical School, London in 1998. After my house jobs I spent six months at a base hospital in Outback Queensland, Australia before resuming my basic surgical training at Frimley Park Hospital, Surrey. I undertook my higher orthopaedic training through the North-West Thames rotation including appointments at Kingston Hospital, Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford and the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading.
After attaining the FRCS(Trauma & Orthopaedics) I undertook a 12 month fellowship at the Perth Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Centre in Perth, Australia with a particular focus on soft-tissue injuries of the shoulder and upper limb. I returned to the UK in June 2010 to take up a locum consultant appointment at Frimley Park Hospital and have been a substantive consultant there since July 2011.
I specialise in problems of the shoulder and elbow and I perform both open and arthroscopic surgery in addition to joint replacement for arthritis. Common conditions treated include shoulder instability, frozen shoulder, impingement syndrome and rotator cuff tears, arthritis, Tennis and Golfer’s elbow. My research interest is in measuring the outcomes of surgical intervention with the aim of improving treatment for patients.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Gareth Hill at Spire include:
Orthopaedics
Royal College of Surgeons of England
British Elbow & Shoulder Society
Clinical Governance Lead for Orthopaedics, Frimley Park Hospital
Frimley Park Hospital NHS Trust.
I am married to Clare, have two sons and my interests include Triumph sports cars, skiing, sailing and following the variable fortunes of the Welsh Rugby Union team.
