I am a Consultant Vascular Surgeon. My specialist interests include the management of venous conditions with particular reference to the management of central venous stenosis. My practice includes the management of varicose veins, the management of aneurysmal and carotid disease, the management of peripheral vascular disease, as well as the management of vascular and torso trauma.
My main NHS appointment is at St George's Hospital, London. I am the Unit Lead for the treatment of venous disease at St George's Vascular Institute and I am the Clinical Lead for Vascular Trauma at the Major Trauma Centre. In addition, I have been appointed as an Honorary Consultant at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust and I am responsible for the delivery of vascular services at Epsom Hospital.
I undertook my undergraduate medical training at the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa. Once qualified I emigrated to the United Kingdom in 1998, where I continued my surgical training in the South West Thames region and at the Royal London Hospital.
I undertook postgraduate vascular research at the University of Sheffield, investigating clinical recovery in a model of chronic moderate ischaemia and was awarded a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree for this work. I have a keen interest in surgical training and instruct as a member of the faculty on numerous surgical training courses delivered by the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
