I am a Consultant General Surgeon and hold an NHS post at the Nottingham University Hospitals. I studied at University of Nottingham Medical School.
I am an enthusiast and leading proponent of laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and have pioneered a number of procedures in the East Midlands.
I have been President of the Association of Upper GI Surgeons and on the Councils of the British Obesity Surgery Society and Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons.
I run local and national training courses for hernia and gallstone surgery. I am an examiner in the final fellowship surgery exams.

I am a keen supporter of Rugby Union and played and Captained School, Medical School and University teams. I enjoy the mountains, hill walking, climbing and am an enthusiastic skier both on and off-piste. In Nottingham, I enjoy the theatre, cooking and have taken up Olympic Lifting. I am learning French – slowly!
