I am a Consultant Gynaecologist at the Liverpool Women's Hospital NHS Foundation Trust with a special interest in pelvic pain and endometriosis. I am the Clinical Lead of this service and have recently led the endometriosis team at the Liverpool Women's Hospital to become a BSGE Accredited Centre.
I have carried out many complex gynaecology surgeries using minimal access techniques (laparoscopy/robotics) including, stage four recto-vaginal endometriosis, myomectomies, hysterectomies, ovarian surgery (removal of ovaries/ cysts), tubal surgery, uterine surgery, fibroid surgery and operative hysteroscopic surgeries.
I am a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and also the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
I received training in advanced laparoscopic gynaecology Surgery for the excision of benign Disease at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. This was the busiest British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE) Accredited Endometriosis centre at the time. I trained in complex benign gynaecological surgery including endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids and chronic pelvic pain.
In addition, I have worked at St Thomas’, St Mary’s, St Georges and Royal Marsden hospitals. Experience in all these hospitals have provided me with great experience and knowledge to help me provide excellent clinical care to my patients.
I am trained in advanced laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, hysteroscopic and also open surgery, and have extensive experience in general surgery including colorectal, vascular and urology.
I was awarded the BSGE travelling Fellowship - I decided to carry out a fellowship with Professor Horace Roman, the world's leading expert in bowel related endometriosis and also nerve sparing surgery, in France. I have also been awarded the Alan Gordan travelling Fellowship.
I have a passion for research and have published papers in peer review journals and presented in international and national conferences. I also won the European Surgical Society Research award for my completed research project in Nimes, France.
I am active in teaching and training, have an MSc in Medical Education and am faculty a member of BSGE run surgical cadaveric courses. I am also Faculty for laparoscopic simulation training. I am a member of the subcommittee for the BSGE awards and prizes, an examiner for final year medical school examinations and an education supervisor for medical students and post graduate doctors at the University of Liverpool.
