I am a Yorkshire trained orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in disorders of the foot and ankle. I graduated from Leeds Medical School, before commencing basic surgical training at the Yorkshire School of Surgery.
Following a year of orthopaedic research, I was appointed to the higher surgical training programme in orthopaedics. Latterly with a focus on lower limb orthopaedics, trauma/military surgery and foot and ankle surgery.
My training continued with fellowship training in foot and ankle and trauma surgery in Leeds and completed with a Fellowship at the prestigious Avon Orthopaedic Centre with Ian Winson (past president of European Foot and Ankle Society ). Here I acquired specialist skills in minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery; widely recognised to offer quicker healing and smaller scars.
My achievements have recently been recognised at a national level with the award of The British Foot and Ankle Society Travelling Fellowship.
I have presented at numerous national and international conferences and have contributed to scientific literature in trauma, sports injury, and orthopaedic surgery.
I am a keen teacher and hold honorary senior lecturer status at Leeds Medical School. I am involved in admissions interviewing, training and the assessing of undergraduate medical students. I am a surgical trainer and have a particular interest in designing computer software and simulators to aid surgical training.
