I completed my specialist surgical training in the North West of England, and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS T&O) in 2016. I undertook prestigious knee fellowships in Harrogate, Cardiff and France, where I worked with world-renowned knee surgeons specialising in partial knee replacements, knee ligaments reconstruction, osteotomies and patellofemoral joint surgery. Following five years as a consultant at Royal Bolton Hospital, I was selected in 2021 to lead the acute knee services at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - Manchester Royal Infirmary, Trafford General Hospital.

I am experienced in clinical and laboratory research, including the use of gait analysis. I completed an MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering at Cardiff University. My dissertation, A New Approach to Prevention of Knee Osteoarthritis, was presented at national and international conferences, and awarded Sir John Charnley and the British Association of Surgeons of the Knee prizes. I have several publications, and numerous presentations at national and international conferences.

I regularly teach on ATLS and knee surgery courses. I am a regular examiner of medical students at the University of Manchester, and am actively involved in training of junior surgeons in the NHS.

I specialise in all aspects of arthritis and joint degeneration, including:

  • Nonoperative: injections, orthotics, rehab
  • Cartilage regeneration procedures
  • Knee re-alignment osteotomies
  • Total and partial knee replacement
  • Customised patient-specific knee (ConforMIS)

  • Chondral (joint surface) injuries and cartilage regeneration procedures
  • Overuse conditions, eg tendinitis

Since completing my training in 2016, I have performed hundreds of knee arthroscopies, replacements (partial and total), ligament recontructions and osteotomies. I perform complex multi-ligament knee and joint reconstruction surgery at Manchester Royal Informary Major Trauma Centre, and lead the Soft Tissue Knee MDT.

I lead the Soft Tissue Knee MDT at Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where I perform complex multi-ligament knee and joint reconstruction surgery. I am the Clinical Governance Lead at Manchester Royal Infirmary Major Trauma Centre. I sit on national BASK committees to produce national guidance for knee surgery. I teach medical students at the University of Manchester, as well as on ATLS and knee replacement and trauma courses, and train junior doctors as part of the North Western Deanery Orthopaedic Rotation.
