I am an experienced Consultant General Surgeon with specialist interest in weight loss surgery (bariatrics surgery). I am highly experienced at managing complex gallbladder stone disease, acid reflux disease and all types of abdominal wall hernias. My sub-specialist interest includes management of complex obesity and related disorders.

I specialise in laparoscopic surgery and perform laparoscopic weight loss operations (sleeve gastrectomy, Roux N Y Gastric bypass, mini gastric bypass and gastric band insertions and removals), cholecystectomy (removal of gallbladder), anti-reflux surgery (fundoplication and hiatus hernia repair) and all types of abdominal hernia (inguinal, femoral, umbilical and incisional).

To date I have performed more than 2,500 general surgical operations including laparoscopic cholecystectomy (900), laparoscopic anti-reflux surgery (150) and laparoscopic hernia surgery (150) and large numbers of open surgery for planned and emergency cases.

I have performed 500 weight loss surgery mainly consisting of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass surgery (Roux N Y and mini gastric bypass), with smaller numbers of gastric band placements for selected cases.

After finishing my surgical training in Leicester, I completed two prestigious post CCT Fellowships in Bariatrics Surgery at St George Hospital, Sydney, Australia and Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, UK. I consolidated my bariatric surgery experience with world renowned bariatric surgeons, Dr Michael Talbot and Dr Ken Loi at St George Hospital, Sydney. St George Private Hospital is Australia’s highest volume bariatric hospital and strongly recognised as a leader in bariatric surgery. It is also Australia’s first internationally accredited Centre of Bariatric Excellence – as recognised by the Surgical Review Corporation, which accredits Centres of Excellence around the world.

I have worked at University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust as a Locum Consultant UGI and Bariatric Surgeon from April 2019 to March 2022. Since April 2022 I have established myself in a substantive position as a Consultant UGI and Bariatric Surgeon based at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton and Walsall Manor Hospital, Walsall.
