Specialises in
My basic undergraduate degree was gained at Dundee Medical School, Scotland. My training in ENT surgery was in London, Cardiff and Swansea. During my specialist training I spent a year in full time research at Cardiff University and Medical School looking at nasal disease and this research led to the award of Master of Philosophy in Rhinology. I also worked in Australia as a Senior Fellow in Otology for a year where I performed numerous major ear operations.
As well as general ENT surgery my main interests include nasal airway, sinus disease and facial pain, endoscopic sinus surgery, chronic middle ear disease and ear infections, dizziness/vertigo and correction of bat ears (pinnaplasty).
I also have a sub-specialty interest in the treatment of snoring and sleep apnoea. I run a specialist snoring and sleep apnoea clinic. I'm a member of the International Surgical Sleep Society.
As a result of previous research on the complications of ear piercing, I have been interviewed on BBC Breakfast News and quoted in national and international media. My research interests have led to several publications in medical journals.
I'm very interested in training hospital doctors, nurses and GPs and have established an annual Ear Care Course held at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. This is a successful and well attended course.
