I am a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon. I specialise in injuries and degenerative conditions, such as arthritis, of the shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist. I have a keen and extensive interest in both open and arthroscopic (keyhole) techniques and strive to keep abreast of the latest and most effective treatments available. This allows me to offer the very best care available for patients whom I have the privilege to treat.

As a dual fellowship trained shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist surgeon, I have a keen interest in all pathologies of the upper limb. I undertake open and keyhole procedures of the shoulder and elbow joints, allowing the treatments of arthritis and other degenerative conditions, such as rotator cuff tears. I also treat injuries involving the whole of the upper limb, from the shoulder right down to the finger tips. I practice wide awake surgery of the hand, wrist and elbow by working alongside my skilled theatre team.

I graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2001 and, having developed an early interest in orthopaedic surgery, completed a BSc in Anatomy (University College London and Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore).

I subsequently joined the prestigious Birmingham Orthopaedic Training Programme which was followed by specialist upper limb fellowships at the internationally renowned Pulvertaft Centre (hand and wrist surgery) and the Liverpool Upper Limb Unit (shoulder and elbow surgery, under the direct guidance of Professor Peter Brownson, the then President of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society). During this time, I mastered advanced surgical techniques for disorders of the shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist. I was honoured to be appointed as a substantive consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon at South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust, where I treat patients with elective and traumatic conditions orthopaedic conditions.

I have contributed significantly to medical literature by publishing numerous articles relating to orthopaedic surgery in prominent scientific journals. I have been invited to author several book chapters and have also shared my work at major conferences to peers, both within the UK and internationally. I am a reviewer for the prestigious ‘Shoulder and Elbow’ journal, providing critical appraisal of submitted medical articles from around the world.

I am passionate about delivering high quality medical education and training. I provide formal teaching in upper limb surgery to trainee orthopaedic surgeons from across the UK and regularly perform assessment and appraisal of doctors at various stages of their career. I was invited to become a course convenor for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, providing formal training in the diagnosis and treatment of common musculoskeletal conditions.

I am often praised for my communication skills and take the time to listen to the needs of patients. I am passionate about ensuring all patients fully understand their diagnosis and the treatment options available to them. By maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the latest techniques and developments in surgery of the upper limb, I am committed to offering a consistently high standard of care.

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust.

I enjoy keeping fit by regularly taking part in a variety of sports. My weekly 5-a side football matches with friends made at university have certainly stood the test of time! As a cyclist, I have completed several long-distance rides, raising money for charities such as University Hospitals Birmingham and Macmillan. I am an avid supporter of Coventry City Football Club, though this has been truly tested in more recent years! Time spent with family and friends is precious and I never underestimate the importance of a healthy work life balance on both my mental and physical wellbeing.
