Mr Keith Louden

Consultant Gynaecologist

BMedSci, BM BS, DM, FRCOG

Mr Keith Louden has been a Consultant Gynaecologist at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester since 1995. He was appointed to develop minimal access surgery with both laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, alongside general gynaecology, and has introduced a number of new surgical procedures. His interests include endometriosis, pelvic pain and menstrual disorders, and the modernisation of gynaecological investigation and treatment to avoid invasive procedures where possible.

Keith has completed the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists special skills module for gynaecological ultrasound, and offers this investigation as part of a routine outpatient consultation as required. He runs specialist clinics for endometriosis/pelvic pain patients, and for patients who require transvaginal ultrasound to evaluate symptoms of pain or abnormal bleeding.

He trained at Nottingham University, graduating in 1983, and holds a postgraduate degree (MD) in reproductive physiology. In 1993 he spent twelve months undertaking a laparoscopic surgery training fellowship in Melbourne, Australia. He became a Member of the RCOG in 1990 and a Fellow in 2001.

Mr Louden is a member of the Council of the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy, with responsibility for guidelines development. He hosted the national meeting of this society in Winchester in 2001. He is a member of the editorial board of the post graduate journal The Obstetrician and Gynaecologist.
