I am a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon based at Nottingham University Hospitals Trust. My expertise covers knee and hip replacement surgery, including Computer Navigated surgery and Conformis custom knee replacement implants. I am also trained in knee and hip preservation surgery for younger patients with moderate arthritis, hip impingement or tendon related problems affecting the hip.
I hold regular clinics at Spire Nottingham Hospital and I am available to discuss your condition and direct investigations as required. I place great value in taking time to understand your symptoms and concerns and to explain treatment options with clarity and to your satisfaction.
I studied medicine at the University of Bristol. I undertook further training, specialising in Orthopaedic Surgery in Nottingham and New Zealand and subsequently took up a post as Consultant in 2008. I have an Orthopaedic ‘Trauma’ surgery practice at the Queens Medical Centre, dealing with injuries and emergencies and an ‘Elective’ knee and hip surgery practice based at the City Hospital Campus of Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH). As well as treating patients, I have held the positions of ‘Clinical Governance Lead’ with responsibility for quality assurance in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery as well as the position of Deputy Director of Surgery with organisational and service development responsibilities. I currently chair the Trent regional network for the treatment of Metastatic Bone Disease (secondary cancer) and perform surgery for this condition.
I am on the Aesculap Academia panel of trainers for Computer Navigated knee replacement surgery and regularly teach at international training courses. I am also on the panel of surgeons developing the next generation of Computer Navigated knee replacement surgery techniques with the B Braun company, the originators of this technology. I am also on an international panel of surgeons studying and optimising the outcomes of knee replacement surgery (Pheno4U).
