I have been a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon at Pinderfields Hospital for 21 years. I have practiced privately at Methley Park Hospital throughout this period. I have had a broad training in Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery, but as a Senior Registrar and Consultant I developed elective interests in lower limb, joint replacement, knee surgery and arthroscopy.
The majority of my elective practice is hip replacement, knee replacement and knee arthroscopy. I perform cemented and uncemented hip replacements and perform cemented knee replacements including: patient specific knees, I-Assist knees and gender designs. I am increasingly performing hip and knee revision procedures.
I completed my Orthopaedic Training with a Hip Fellowship with Professor Wroblewski at Wrightington Hospital and a Knee Fellowship with Mr Richard Parkinson at Arrowe Park Hospital.
I have also got an interest in trauma, having completed an AO trauma fellowship in Tampa Florida. I'm on the faculty of the AO Basic and Advanced Fracture Fixation courses.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Malcolm Rawes at Spire include:
