Specialises in
I am an Orthopaedic Hip Surgeon with a specialist practice dealing exclusively in conditions in and around the hip joint.
I have been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals since 2008. My surgical workload is divided between hip preserving procedures (such as hip arthroscopy for impingement and labral tears) and both primary and revision hip replacement surgery. While I deal with hip problems in patients of all ages from adolescents upwards, a significant proportion of my work is tertiary referral and in young adults, alongside more traditional hip replacement patients.
Through minimally invasive surgical techniques and ongoing development of enhanced recovery and rapid rehabilitation programmes, I am able to perform total hip replacements in selected patients as a day case procedure.
At Guy’s and St Thomas’, I have served terms as Orthopaedic Clinical Lead, Chair of the Surgical Directorate Clinical Governance Committee and am the Hip Subspecialty Lead. I set up and chair the Guy’s hip multidisciplinary meeting which acts as a regional forum for colleagues from South East London to discuss and plan complex cases. I am on the National Revision Hip Network Advisory Panel.
I play an active role in postgraduate education, being an educational and clinical supervisor for higher surgical trainees in orthopaedics, training the next generation of hip surgeons through postgraduate and fellowship training, courses and lectures.
I have published articles in peer reviewed journals and written book chapters on a variety of hip related topics.
