Specialises in
I have been a Consultant Urological Surgeon for two years, with a special interest in pelvic surgery and pelvic malignancies (prostate and bladder cancer). I am an expert in minimally invasive surgery, with a particular focus on robotic surgery, having performed more than 350 operations as the main surgeon. I am currently the only surgeon in the region offering robotic intracorporeal neobladder formation after radical cystectomy (removal of the bladder).
I specialise in pelvic surgery (open and robotic approach) with specific interest in prostate and bladder cancer, from diagnosis (flexible cystoscopy, transperineal prostate biopsy) to treatment (transurethral resection of bladder cancer, radical prostatectomy, radical cystectomy with urinary diversion). I also have an interest in general urology conditions, such as stone disease, benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), circumcision, vasectomy and hydrocele.
To date, I have performed over 250 robot assisted radical prostatectomies and 70 radical cystectomies with urinary diversion, via either open or robotic approach. As far as general urology procedures are concerned, I have performed over 500 surgeries, including stone surgeries, TURPs, circumcisions, repair of hydrocele, removal of epididymal cysts, vasectomy, TURBTs and correction of varicocele.
I am chair of the Specialist MDT at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust.
In addition to my clinical work, I am also an honorary lecturer for Urology at the University of Naples Federico II. I am also actively involved in research and I have published several articles on peer reviewed journals, with a particular focus on robotic surgery, prostate and bladder cancer.
I have a role as a clinical and educational supervisor for junior doctors in my trust. I am also actively involved in the training of senior registrars and clinical fellows interested in robotic pelvic surgery.
