I am a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Spire Gatwick Park Hospital. I am one of the network approved pelvic cancer surgeons (bladder and prostate cancer). In addition to all aspects of general clinical urology my practice at Spire Gatwick Park Hospital includes pelvic cancer surgery, female urology, urodynamics and reconstructive surgery.
I qualified from the Middlesex Hospital in 1991. After gaining my surgical fellowship I researched pelvic floor dysfunction at the National Hospital for Neurology, Queen Square in London. This research led me onto two higher degrees – an MSc and MD. I also have a BSc in The History of Medicine. My urological training was based mainly in London but I spent 2002 expanding my surgical experience in Brisbane, Australia, specialising in pelvic surgery, especially radical prostatectomy. I returned to London for a year's fellowship in reconstructive urology at the Institute of Urology. At the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane I was trained in microsurgical vasectomy reversal and this is a specific interest of mine.
I have published many papers and book chapters. I have also presented many times at national and international meetings.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Michael Swinn at Spire include:
