I have been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon for 10 years and my practice encompasses all aspects of foot and ankle disorders and complex trauma. I have a special interest in foot and ankle surgery. I have experience in all aspects of this field – treating elective, trauma, and sports injuries; I have a large revision practice and often see patients for a second opinion.
My surgical practice encompasses all aspects, diagnosis, and treatment (operative and non-operative), of foot and ankle disorders including bunion surgery, minimally invasive surgery, Morton’s neuroma and ganglions, severe foot and ankle deformities, arthritis, flat feet and high arch feet, tendon disorders; tendinitis or tendinopathy, heel pain and plantar fasciitis and sports injuries – ankle ligaments injuries and fractures and diabetic feet disorders.
I also have a special interest in complex trauma and limb reconstruction. I am fellowship-trained in foot and ankle surgery and trauma/limb reconstruction. I worked in major trauma centres, both in the UK and Australia. I undertake medico-legal work as an expert witness in various trauma and orthopaedic cases.
I completed a residency in trauma and orthopaedics at a prestigious medical school in Baghdad, Iraq. I subsequently completed 10 years of basic and higher surgical orthopaedic training in the north of England and undertook more than two years of fellowships in foot and ankle surgery and trauma/limb reconstruction in Birmingham, Liverpool, and Australia; in Melbourne and Brisbane.
I worked as a consultant at The James Cook University Hospital from June 2014 until April 2021, before moving to Surrey. I now work as a foot, ankle, and complex trauma surgeon at Croydon University Hospital. I have 8,000 procedures on my Royal College log book, in different orthopaedic subspecialties, but mainly in foot and ankle and trauma surgery.
I am a recognised trainer for specialty registrars in trauma and orthopaedics. I have recently started an international fellowship to train overseas surgeons.
