MD, FRCS, FRCS (Gen Surg), EBSQ (Colo)
I have been a substantive NHS and private Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon for 15 years. I qualified in General and Colorectal Surgery in 2008 following a six year type 1 registrar rotation at Cambridge Deanery. Having had this long high quality experience, I can give advice and offer treatment in my field at a senior consultant level. Most of the procedures I perform are done as keyhole surgery or endoscopically, with quick recovery and return to work.
My main interest is early detection and treatment of colorectal cancer and pre-cancerous lesions. However, I deal with a wide range of colorectal diseases, including surgical treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases, diverticular disease, sigmoid volvulus, obstructed defecation and proctology, such as haemorrhoids, skin tags, anal fissures, fistulae and pilonidal sinus. I still enjoy some general surgical practice including emergencies, hernia repairs and gallbladder surgeries. From an endoscopy point of view, I am a bowel cancer screening Colonoscopist.
To date, I have performed over 400 colonic resections for cancer with very low mortality. My results are benchmarked through local and national audits such NBOCA data. I am proud to have performed over 2,000 diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopies with completion rate of 98% and no single perforation. I have developed effective treatment plans for pilonidal sinus disease and recurrent sigmoid volvulus.
I have an interest in medical education and some management skills. I keep my practice up to date through regular reading and attending relevant courses and conferences.
