Specialises in
I am a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery. I have a special interest in treating a wide range of hip and knee conditions including arthritis, sports injuries and trauma.
My areas of interest include partial (uni) knee replacement, total knee replacement (primary and revision), total hip replacement (primary and revision), knee joint preservation procedures (PRP/stem cells, osteotomies, cartilage procedures) and sports injuries (meniscal repair, ligament repair/reconstruction).
I am actively involved in improving the patient experience including implementing enhanced recovery, optimising pain management and better pre-operative and post-operative care.
I attended and graduated from Sir Sayaji University in India and did a post graduate degree in orthopaedics. I moved to the UK in 2006 and undertook comprehensive surgical training and obtained a research degree before undergoing an orthopaedic training rotation in South-East London, working in some of the finest London Teaching and District hospitals.
After completing my training, I undertook internationally acclaimed fellowships at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham in trauma, and soft tissue knee surgery as well as lower limb arthroplasty/joint preservation fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic Centre, Stanmore. I gained further experience in knee surgery working at King’s College Hospital and as a Locum Consultant at Guy’s and St Thomas' Hospital.
My NHS base is Princess Royal University Hospital and Orpington Hospital. I have also worked as a Consultant at Guy’s and St Thomas' Hospital, managing patients with complex knee pathologies. Orpington Hospital is a purpose built elective orthopaedic centre where I perform high volume routine elective hip and knee surgery. My area of interest is day case arthroplasty surgery, pre-habilitation before surgery, improving pain management in lower limb surgery and improving patient outcome by incorporating shared decision making and better patient understanding of the condition. I constantly work to improve patient care by participating in ongoing research and have received some of the best patient outcomes and feedback.
I have published widely in my sub-specialty and keep myself updated with the latest advancements by participating in research and attending conferences. I have excelled not only in surgical treatment of hip and knee disorders but I also work closely with allied specialties to maximise non operative management.
