I have 20 years' experience of general and laparoscopic surgery. I have developed advanced laparoscopic surgery for all kind of abdominal hernia, anti-reflux surgery and gallbladder surgery at Barnsley. I also provide service and training for both upper and lower GI endoscopy.
I obtained The Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1991. My higher surgical training was as a specialist registrar, structured training in general and upper GI and laparoscopic surgery in Yorkshire resulting in achieving the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training by the Specialist Authority, UK in 2000. I was appointed as a Consultant General Surgeon with special interest in gastro-intestinal and laparoscopic surgery at Barnsley General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in 2001.
I have acquired special training of advance laparoscopic surgery from European Institutes in France and Hamburg. I actively teach laparoscopic surgery to junior surgeons on various courses locally and at national and international level.
My non clinical interests are in Medical Education; Surgical Tutor for the Royal College of Surgeons at Barnsley; Examiner for the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of England, Glasgow, Ireland; Faculty member of surgical skill courses, especially laparoscopic surgery.
