Specialises in
I am a high-volume hip and knee surgeon with a special interest in robotic assisted knee replacements, minimally invasive hip replacements and rapid recovery. My focus is on personalised care for every patient and offer treatment based on their individual circumstances. I firmly believe that in addition to surgical skills, listening to the patients, understanding their expectation, being empathetic and using technology are paramount to provide personalised treatment. Feedback from my patients consistently reflect that. Patients’ feedback could be accessed at ‘iWantGreatCare’, ‘TopDoctors’ and ‘Doctify’. Full details about the treatments I offer are available on my website.
I have been doing personalised knee replacement using robotic assistance for over three years and have one of the largest robotic knee replacement practices in Wales and the Wirral. There is increasing evidence that personalised knee replacement technique results in less pain and early functional recovery.
I also offer minimally invasive hip replacements. The minimally invasive approach often allows early postoperative recovery with less pain.
The minimally invasive treatment options also allow me to offer day surgery arthroplasty in select patients (patents going home on the same day after their hip or knee replacements).
My practice also includes knee arthroscopy and hip arthroscopy.
I also offer Arthrosamid® injection, which is a new innovative treatment option for knee arthritis in suitable patients (self -funding patients only).
I completed my higher specialist training in orthopaedics in Wales and undertook a joint replacement fellowship in Cardiff. I subsequently completed an advanced hip and knee fellowship in Montreal, Canada before starting as a substantive orthopaedic consultant in 2008.
I am an invited speaker in national and international meetings on topics including robotic knee replacements.
I am also an official trainer for robotic knee replacements and host visiting surgeons from the UK and Europe, who come to learn this new technology.
Throughout my career I have been involved in several research projects and have also won a number of awards at various national and international meetings.
I am passionate about teaching and training future surgeons. I have been a regular trainer for Specialist Trainee Registrars from Oswestry and Wales rotation for Orthopaedics and have been nominated for Trainer of the Year Award. More recently, I have been instrumental in creating an advanced robotic knee fellowship at Ysbyty Gwynedd where senior trainees come to learn robotic knee replacements.

I have been involved in a number of research projects which have been published and I have presented in a number of scientific journals and meetings. I have won various awards for my research work. I keep myself updated on recent advances by attending various CME sessions. I am also keen on teaching the next generation of surgeons as well as allied health professionals.
