Mr Nick Cullen

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon

MBBS, BSc(Hons), FRCS, FRCS (Tr&Orth)

For the last 10 years, I have been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH). I specialise purely in disorders of the foot and ankle. The RNOH is a national centre of excellence, and the foot and ankle unit is a tertiary referral unit dealing with complex cases that have been referred from centres all over the United Kingdom.

I deal solely with problems of the foot and ankle. My interests include sports injuries, toe deformity, bunions, arthroscopy, arthritis, and tendon disorders. I deal with many revision and complex cases. I see over 800 new patients and perform over 500 foot and ankle operations per year. I work closely with physiotherapists, orthotists, podiatrists and osteopaths tailoring care to each patient’s needs.

I qualified from UCH and Middlesex school of medicine in 1993, worked as a junior doctor in London and Cape Town, South Africa before embarking on my orthopaedic training on the Middlesex hospital rotation. I have undertaken postgraduate fellowships at the RNOH Stanmore and Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge.

I am actively involved in teaching, I am the co-convenor of the internationally renowned Stanmore foot and ankle course. I lecture on the regional orthopaedic training programmes and nationally on various courses including the British foot and ankle society. I am actively involved in research and in the training of the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons and allied health professionals.

I publish regularly in the peer reviewed foot and ankle literature, I have presented at national and international scientific meetings. I am the Audit lead in the foot and ankle unit at the RNOH.
