Specialises in
Virtual consultations:
Having completed my medical degree at St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College in London, I undertook my basic surgical training in Ipswich and at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. After a period of research at Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Institute of Urology, UCL, I was awarded an MD by the University of London. I undertook my specialist training in the Wessex region, working in the large hospitals in Hampshire.
At Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, I am the clinical lead in bladder dysfunction, incontinence, reconstruction and urethral stricture disease. I have pioneered the use of UroLift® for male urinary symptoms in East Anglia.
I am a partner in the Cambridge Urology Clinic, together with my Addenbrooke’s colleagues, Vincent Gnanapragasam and Alex Colquhoun and we are based exclusively at the Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital.
I have given invited lectures and been on the faculty for international meetings, including Leading Lights in Urology, Challenge the Experts, ESFFU section meetings and British Association of Urology and European Association of Urology Annual meetings. I maintain my interest in teaching by organising courses, including the Cambridge Pelvic Floor Symposium and Update in Urodynamics meetings.
As an expert in incontinence and reconstruction, I have contributed to NICE consultations, NHS Horizon Scanning documents, NICE Eyes on Evidence and Design for Dignity discussions. I wrote over 12 articles on male lower urinary tract symptoms in 2014 alone. I contribute to the European Association of Urology Patient Information sheets. I review articles for leading international urological journals and for the National Institute for Health Research. As a principal investigator, I have run a number of commercial and national research trials at Addenbrooke's Hospital.
During my research period and subsequent registrar training, I published numerous papers on all aspects of urology in leading international urological journals. My sub-specialist interest and development has taken me to leading units in London, Sheffield, USA (Dallas and North Carolina) and Australia, where I undertook a one year senior fellowship in Perth, Western Australia.
In 2017, I received a National Clinical Excellence Award by the NHS in recognition of the significant contribution I have delivered towards the delivery of safe and high quality care to patients and for the high standards demonstrated in leadership, teaching and research commitments.
