"I enjoy working at Spire Alexandra Hospital because of the supportive team environment and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients' lives every day."
I am a fellowship trained specialist trauma and orthopaedic hip and knee surgeon. My surgical expertise revolves around aspects of hip and knee surgery, including trauma, arthritis, joint preservation, as well as revision arthroplasty.
I completed my specialist training on the South West England rotation. Following this, I went onto complete the prestigious Ling Hip Fellowship in Exeter UK, and complex knee fellowship at Guy’s Hospital in London UK. I have also completed travelling trauma fellowships at the Shock Trauma Centre in Baltimore USA, and Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard) in Boston USA.
I specialise in a number of areas in orthopaedics including; trauma, primary hip replacement, knee injections - viscosupplement, steroid, PRP, hydrogel, hip injection, unicompartmental (partial) knee replacement, joint preservation surgery (osteotomy of knee), arthroscopy of knee and meniscal surgery, total knee replacement, and revision knee replacement.
I have sufficient experience in the surgery I perform, which is in keeping with my routine NHS practice, with regular audit of outcomes and annual appraisal. I am compliant with submission of my own data to the national joint registry.
I am also the lead for hip fracture for the local trust and educational and clinical supervision for deanery training registrars for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex training programme.
My key endeavours are to improve precision and outcomes in hip and knee arthroplasty surgery and joint preservation surgery, including enhanced recovery, and work closely with the charity Versus Arthritis as an ‘MSK champion’ advocating for patients suffering in pain from arthritis.
I also have a keen interest in teaching, and am currently the education lead at my trust for the deanery, and have a wide range of publications and international presentations in my field.
