My practice is focused on managing patients with pain and injuries around the hip joint. This includes managing patients with subtle hip shape abnormalities (including dysplasia and hip/femoroacetabular impingement) local soft tissue disorders (labral tears and tendinopathy) or established arthritis.
I routinely perform hip preservation surgery including hip arthroscopy (keyhole), pelvic acetabular osteotomy (PAO) and femoral osteotomy. In situations where my patients have established arthritis and the joint surfaces are worn out I perform hip resurfacing (Birmingham Hip Resurfacing) or total hip replacement surgery. I have experience in using cemented and uncemented hip implants and robotic-assisted (MAKO) total hip replacement surgery. Robotic surgery is only available at Spire Little Aston Hospital.
I attended medical school at the University of Birmingham and completed my orthopaedic training in the West Midlands. During my training, I completed a PhD at Warwick University with a thesis on treatments for femoroacetabular impingement of the hip. I gained a fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons, in February 2017 and completed specialist fellowship training at recognised centres of excellence and tertiary referral for hip disorders with The Exeter Hip Unit at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Trust and The Young Adult Hip Unit at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals NHS Trust, London.
