I am a very experienced Surgeon with a busy private practice which mirrors my NHS practice. My interests include low back pain and sciatica in which I have had an interest since my early training days. I have developed these further since being appointed as a Consultant in the NHS in 1998.
I commenced my medical training in Pondicherry in 1979 and went on to the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences to complete an MS in Orthopaedics. My thesis topic was on 'Disc Prolapse' while I was working in the Spinal unit there.
I came to the UK in 1991 and trained at the Royal Free Hospital, RNOH Stanmore, Great Ormond street and other hospitals in North London, during which I completed my MCh from the University of Liverpool.
My practice is to take the patient's views and feelings into consideration while discussing treatment options. I have many non-operative solutions for low back pain and sciatica, but when surgery is required I have a keen interest in minimally invasive surgical options and injections.
I am a Senior examiner for the FRCS (Orthopaedics and trauma). I am a member of many learned societies and lectures nationally and internationally. I am a founder member of Total Orthopaedics London.
