I have been a consultant vascular surgeon for 13 years and specialise in minimally invasive surgery for varicose veins. This is done as a day case under a local anaesthetic, not requiring admission/overnight stay in the hospital.
I have a special interest in management of patients with varicose veins (including thread veins) with endovenous thermal ablation/foam/injection sclerotherapy (minimally invasive/ambulatory/day case not requiring admission/overnight stay). I have vast experience in treating arterial diseases, including; Abdominal Aortic aneurysm surgery, carotid surgery for strokes/mini strokes and lower limb bypasses for arterial disease.
In addition I provide services for renal access surgery for dialysis, ulcers and wounds in lower limbs due to arterial/venous disease/diabetes. This includes limb salvage/major or minor amputations. I also provide long term venous access for chemotherapy/antibiotics (ports/tunnelled central lines).
I have been at Hull Royal Infirmary for more than 12 years as a consultant, practicing all aspects of vascular surgery. My focus is on providing a high quality service in terms of patient safety, patient outcomes and patient experience in both my NHS and private practice.
My special interest is undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training. I believe that participation in training is integral to the delivery of a high quality service. I have a proven track record in teaching and training; completing my postgraduate certificate in medical education (PCME) were I was awarded a distinction.
I am an FRCS and MRCS Examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons, UK. Also I am Faculty for Vascular ST3 National Interviews, which contributes significantly to NHS workforce & training.
I am a CCrISP Instructor. (Also ATLS instructor in the past) and are on the panel of International Consultant Editors for Indian Journal of Vascular & Endovascular Surgery (IJVES).
I also am a regular invited speaker at the Vascular Society of India's Annual conference (VSICON) since 2013.

I believe in healthy eating and living. Having enjoyed adventure sports like bungee jumping, rock climbing, white water rafting, deep sea diving and paragliding, my current interests include running and hiking. I am an avid reader (popular science, philosophy, linguistics, Hindi classics and sports), an intrepid traveller, and an amateur photographer. Lately, charitable activities have started occupying incrementally more time of mine, both in the UK and abroad.
