MA (Cantab), BM BCh, FRCS
My clinical practice at Spire Portsmouth Hospital includes hip and knee joint replacements for degenerative arthritis, as well as knee arthroscopy for problems such as meniscal tears from sports injuries.
My sub-specialist interest is children's orthopaedics; in my NHS practice training, I was a fellow at the Children's Hospital in Sheffield. My paediatric practice is outpatient based and covers hip, knee and foot problems, gait abnormalities and variants of normal development.
I also have an interest in the management of lower back pain in conjunction with colleagues in pain management.
I also has a medico-legal practice, which is mainly based on the assessment and production of reports for a range of musculo-skeletal problems and disorders following personal injury.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Robert Richards at Spire include:
Orthopaedics
Other treatments
Orthopaedic surgery, Medico-legal, Paediatric orthopaedics
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Portsmouth Hospitals Trust
My paediatric orthopaedic practice is complemented by the presence of five youngsters at home. When time allows, I like to play golf, for a little peace, although I have a frustratingly high handicap.
