I'm a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospital, with a private practice at Spire Claremont Hospital. I offer a personal, friendly and bespoke approach to solving hand and wrist surgery problems for patients, based on the needs and lifestyle of a patient. I work closely with Hand Therapists to maximise early return to function after surgery, where possible.
I initially obtained a Natural Science degree from Cambridge University in 1993, before coming to Sheffield and studying medicine, obtaining my second degree in 1998. Basic surgical and higher surgical Orthopaedic training was also completed in the Sheffield region, along with a specialist fellowship in hand and wrist surgery at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals in 2012.
I was appointed as Consultant to Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2014 and am one of two surgeons in the Trust who specialise in hand and wrist surgery.
I regularly attend the British Society for Surgery of the Hand meetings, to keep up to date with current thinking and developments in the field and have published outcomes of pyrocarbon joint replacement in the hand.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Robert Simpson-White at Spire include:
Orthopaedics - hand and wrist
Other treatments
British Orthopaedic Association
British Society for Surgery of the Hand
Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
When not at work, I enjoy swimming, woodworking and spending time with my wife and two children.
