I have a thriving private practice at both Spire Hartswood Hospital in Brentwood and Spire London East Hospital in Essex. I have extensive experience in vascular surgery, both venous and arterial.
I was the first surgeon to perform the keyhole repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm (Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR)) using a stent graft at King George Hospital in 2000 and the first surgeon to perform keyhole repair of ruptured aortic aneurysm at Queen's Hospital in 2013. I carry out a variety of other vascular procedures such as lower limb bypass surgery, carotid endarterectomy and angioplasties in the private sector.
I have a special interest in varicose vein surgery and the new minimally invasive treatment options that are available. I introduced the Venefitâ„¢ procedure (radiofrequency ablation of varicose veins formerly known as VNUS Closure) in the private sector in Essex and as a pilot study at King George Hospital.
I also have a keen interest in laparoscopic surgery and first introduced the laparoscopic extraperitoneal hernia repair (TEP) at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. In addition to hernia surgery I also routinely perform laparoscopic gallbladder surgery and minimally invasive thoracoscopic sympathectomy for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating of hands and armpits). For patients concerned about spider and thread veins, I offer thermal coagulation and injection treatment.
I have performed over 250 Venefitâ„¢ procedures with excellent results and patient satisfaction. I've also carried out over 500 laparoscopic hernia repairs in the private sector with only two recurrences.
I was appointed as a consultant general surgeon specialising in vascular and laparoscopic surgery at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust in 1999. My NHS clinics are based at Queen's Hospital after having worked at King George Hospital for 11 years.
I also won the first prize for my presentation on laparoscopic hernia at the European Endoscopic Surgeons Conference hosted in 2004.
