Specialises in
I am a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon and one of only a few surgeons in the region who is solely dedicated to treating knee problems. Therefore, I have extensive experience and one of the highest volume clinical practices covering all aspects of knee surgery and sports injuries, including partial and total knee replacement, cartilage repair and regeneration, and knee ligament reconstruction.
I aim to always deliver the same level of excellent care to every single patient I treat. My core ethos is to treat my patients how I would wish my family to be treated. I provide a comprehensive specialist knee service and am therefore able to tailor any treatment I offer to best suit the individual needs and aspirations of each of my patients. In this way, my patients receive bespoke personalised treatment with the aim of restoring them to the highest level of function as soon as possible.
I am triple fellowship trained at international centres of excellence (Sydney, Melbourne and Oxford) and I have worked as an NHS Consultant since 2016. I was educated in Oxford and London. I then studied medicine at the Royal Free and University College Medical School (UCL), London, graduating in 2001. My specialist orthopaedic training was on the historic and prestigious Percivall Pott Rotation in London and I was appointed a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2011.
I obtained my Certificate of Completion of Specialist Surgical Training in 2014, following which I embarked on international sub-specialist training. I spent six months with Dr David Dickison in Sydney, Australia, where I trained in all aspects of knee surgery and gained expertise in the use of computer navigation. I then spent a year with A/Professor Andrew Bucknill at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Professor Richard de Steiger at the Epworth Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, where I trained in complex arthroplasty and trauma reconstruction. I then returned to England to spend another year focusing purely on knee surgery at the world renowned Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, gaining expertise in unicompartmental (partial) knee replacements.
My excellence in knee surgery was recognised when I was one of only two surgeons awarded the highly prestigious triennial ESSKA-SLARD Travelling Fellowship in 2022. I visited the best hospitals and knee surgeons in South America to share my knowledge and experience. This included Colombia, Peru, Chile, Brazil and Argentina, where I was on the expert panel for knee replacement surgery at the Argentinian Arthroscopy Association International Conference.
During my career, I have also been awarded the BOTA-IOSUK Travelling Fellowship (Ganga Hospital and Breach Candy Hospital, India), the AO International Trauma Fellowship (Sunnybrook Hospital, Canada), the EFORT Travelling Fellowship (HUG, Switzerland), the HCA Foundation Scholarship (Melbourne), and the BOA Travelling Fellowship (Endoklink, Germany).
