I have a keen interest in the management of bone infection and infected arthroplasty of the hip and knee. I believe that the cemented arthroplasty is still the "gold" standard for hip and knee surgery, having the longest and safest track record.
I specialise in the use of nails, external fixators, Ilizarov and ring fixators to treat difficult fractures. I also have extensive training in lower limb joint arthroplasty and revision surgery in Wrightington and at the Hammersmith Hospital, London. I have specialist training in both cemented and uncemented hip arthroplasty and the use of uncemented long stems in revision arthroplasty.
I completed my specialist orthopaedic training in Manchester and London. I have extensive experience in the treatment of complex trauma patients, in particular non-union of long bones. I carried out my AO Trauma Fellowship in Canada.
I have an outside interest in the participation of Trauma Teams from the UK to disaster zones.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Shahzad Sadiq at Spire include:
Orthopaedics
Other treatments
My research interests are fracture healing and articular cartilage injury, fragility fractures and computer navigation. I am also interested in hip arthroplasty in neck of femur fractures, subchondral bone and arthritis, outcome in trauma surgery and psychological aspects of trauma.
