Mr Sharad Karandikar

I am an experienced Colorectal and General Surgeon with over 21 years of experience in the NHS. I specialise in colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, colonoscopy, and functional bowel disease.

I am proficient in dealing with complex polyps and have experience in treating various conditions such as haemorrhoids and fistula-in-ano, hernia repair surgery, and inflammatory bowel disease. Furthermore, I offer a range of services including colonoscopy polyp removal, diagnostic colonoscopy under sedation, second opinions on complex cases, and surgery for rectal prolapse and incontinence.

Alongside my consultant post, I also serve as the Bowel Cancer Screening Centre Director for the trust. I am actively involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, which allows me to share my experience and expertise with the next generation of doctors.

I take great pride in my clinical research work and have been published in several esteemed medical journals. I am often invited to present lectures and contribute book chapters both nationally and internationally. Additionally, I am a member of various national committees and examine for the FRCS exams.

In my professional life, I have a keen interest in mentoring surgeons and endoscopists nationally and internationally. I was awarded Honorary Fellowship of the Association of Colon and Rectal Surgeons of India (FACRSI) for my contributions to colorectal surgery and surgical training.

I pride myself on providing detailed face-to-face and remote consultations, taking the time to listen to my patients and ensuring that they receive the best possible care.
