I have been working as Consultant General Surgeon specialising in Upper Gastro-Intestinal and Pancreatico-Biliary Surgery at the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust since Nov 2014.
My research project on the role of resistant starch in prevention of bowel cancer was awarded the degree of Doctorate of Medicine (MD) by the Newcastle University in 2007 and has been published in the leading gastroenterology journal Gut in 2009.
My area of research interest is the role of diet in cancer prevention.

I am married to Sindhu who is also working as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist in the NHS. We have a young son who keeps us busy and helps us to take our minds off the stresses at work.
I enjoy playing badminton and like to go trekking over weekends.
