Over the last 25 years, I have built up extensive experience in all things ocular. My particular surgical expertise lies in cataract and squint surgery, with a track record for excellent results. I stake my professional reputation on perfectionism, thoroughness and safety.
I come from Chester and went to study medicine at Sheffield University in 1988. During this time, I ventured to Krishnankoil Rural Eye Hospital in South India for an influential elective period, and won a national award, The Duke-Elder Prize, in 1993.
Thereafter, my post-graduate ophthalmic specialist training took place over 10 years. I was a Senior House Officer at the Tennent Institute of Ophthalmology in Glasgow and a Specialist Registrar at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. I gained additional Fellowship experience at King's College and St Thomas' Hospitals in London.
I was appointed to my current NHS position as Consultant Ophthalmologist at Leighton and Macclesfield Hospitals in 2004, settling in the village of Hartford.
As a Cheshire based Consultant Ophthalmologist in Private Practice for 10 years, I am pleased to offer a comprehensive general ophthalmic service, with sub-specialIty interest areas including paediatric eye care, oculo-mobility disorders and neuro-ophthalmology.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Simon Walker at Spire include:

I spend my free time with my family - we enjoy travelling, swimming, walking, cycling, gardening, music, theatre and cinema. I take green issues seriously and campaign for the countryside.
