MBBCh DMCC MSc (Trauma Surgery) FRCS
I am a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon based at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust. My interests are orthopaedic trauma, primary and revision lower limb arthroplasty.
I gained my undergraduate qualifications from the University of Wales, College of Medicine in Cardiff and completed my foundation training at the University Hospital of Wales. I was awarded an Army cadetship as a medical student and have deployed to Afghanistan on operational duties. I continue to serve as an Army Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon.
During my higher specialist training in the Wessex Deanery, I was awarded the AO Trauma bursary to complete my Masters in Trauma Surgery (MSc) from Swansea University. Alongside my Masters, I have also completed a Diploma in Medicine in Conflict and Catastrophe (DMCC) to keep abreast of wider interest in humanitarian medicine and surgery.
Being appointed as the Ling Hip Fellow at the world-renowned Exeter Hip Unit was the culmination of my orthopaedic training with my subspecialty interest in primary and revision hip replacement. Under the tutelage of excellent trainers, I developed and honed my technical skills as a surgeon.
I continue to regularly publish articles and book chapters. I have presented at various regional, national and international conferences. I have been to SHOCK Trauma, Baltimore and Brigham Women's and General Hospital, Boston to learn the principles and techniques that can be incorporated into my surgical practice.
My intention is to strive for excellence as a consultant with my busy trauma and arthroplasty practice at Portsmouth. I am enthusiastic about quality improvement projects and education within the NHS and wider team. I an am active member of my professional societies - BOA, BHS and OTS.

Alongside my military and NHS career, I spend quality time being a hands-on father and a supportive husband. I enjoy running half marathons, cycling, play tennis regularly and am an avid rugby supporter.
