In 2008, I was appointed to Worcestershire Acute Hospital NHS Trust as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon. I have established the complex glaucoma surgical service for the county of Worcestershire. I am interested in laser treatment for glaucoma, and glaucoma surgery including modern trabeculectomy with mitomycin-c.
Once I qualified as a medical doctor, I joined a three-year residency training programme in ophthalmology. I carried out my prospective randomised study on glaucoma surgery and on completion, was awarded the degree of MD in ophthalmology in 1994. I received training in ophthalmology at Birmingham Eye Hospital, Oxford Eye Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, where I held the post of Specialist Registrar and Senior Glaucoma Fellow.
My interest is in glaucoma investigations (disc imaging) and treatments including lasers, glaucoma surgery including modern trabeculectomy with adjunctive therapies and glaucoma drainage implant surgery. My research interests are in the quality of life in glaucoma, cataract surgery in complex glaucoma and modern glaucoma surgical techniques.
I published the world’s first paper on 5-FU in phacoemulsification to protect functioning glaucoma operation. I have published more than 30 peer-reviewed scientific papers. I have been an active faculty member in various training workshops in glaucoma and regularly deliver invited lectures on these and other subjects at both home and abroad.

I enjoy dramatics, I staged eight plays at national level (two as director, and eight as an actor). I played at district level in cricket and I was captain of the cricket team at medical college level.
