I am currently appointed as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, leading the glaucoma service at Good Hope Hospital. My vision is to provide top-quality comprehensive glaucoma, cataract and general ophthalmology services, including laser and surgical management of complex glaucoma cases. I am particularly interested in the latest advances in modern small incision cataract surgery, correction of astigmatism and intraocular lens implants. For more information on treatments, visit my website here.
I completed my specialist registrar training in ophthalmology in the Northern Deanery, between Newcastle upon Tyne, Sunderland and Middlesbrough. During this time I gained extensive training in general ophthalmology and developed a particular interest in glaucoma and cataract surgery through clinical experience, research and teaching. I have been awarded the Higher Degree of Doctor of Medicine from Newcastle University in 2007 for my research in the field of Glaucoma Genetics.
After my specialist training, I then completed a two-year Fellowship in Glaucoma at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, during which I obtained advanced clinical and surgical skills in the field of glaucoma and cataract.
I attend and presents regularly at national and international meetings and I have published a significant number of articles in peer-reviewed journals as well as book chapters.
