I am a Consultant Vascular and General Surgeon. I treat patients with vascular, venous and general surgical conditions such as hernia and gallstones. I perform endovenous laser treatment (ELT) to treat unsightly and painful varicose veins. For patients who are not suitable for endovenous laser treatment, I offer surgical varicose vein treatment. I also use a minimally invasive procedure to treat axillary and palmar hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating of the axilla and palms).
I take pride in working closely with patients, their families and their GPs to provide meticulous clinical care and some of the most up-to-date treatments. I work closely with medical technology companies and am able to offer some of the latest treatments to my patients. Where appropriate, I use minimally invasive techniques to treat aortic aneurysms (abdominal and thoracic), carotid disease (to prevent stroke), diabetic and peripheral vascular disease, thoracic outlet syndrome and vasculitis.
I have a passion for teaching and training and helped develop the undergraduate surgery training at Queen Mary University of London. I am the lead consultant for undergraduate surgical teaching at my NHS Trust and an examiner at University College London. I am also involved in post-graduate training of surgeons preparing for their final FRCS examination. I train other consultants in endovascular arterial surgery and endovenous laser treatment for varicose veins.
I graduated with Honours from Barts and The London Medical School in 2000. During my undergraduate training I won the Draper's scholarship and was awarded a first class Bachelor of Science degree in physiology and anatomy. After completing basic and higher surgical training in London and Essex, I trained in vascular, endovascular and general surgery, working with pioneering surgeons in this field. For my Master of Science degree at Imperial College of Technology, London, I specialised in the application of new technologies and innovations in surgery.
In 2010 I became a consultant vascular and trauma surgeon at The Royal London Hospital, where I performed the first branched endovascular repairs of complex aortic aneurysms. In 2012 I moved to Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital as a consultant vascular and general surgeon. I set up the minimally invasive vascular surgery programme at Basildon University Hospital.
