I have been an ENT consultant for over 10 years. I am a practising ENT specialist and Laryngologist (voice specialist). As part of my general ENT service, I see patients with chronic tonsillitis, swallowing problems, neck lumps, ear pain, ear infections, nasal blockages, nasal polyps and voice problems. I perform fibre optic nasal and laryngoscopy, ear micro-suction in my outpatient clinic.
I specialise and perform all forms of general ENT surgeries such as tonsillectomy, laryngology surgery for voice-related problems, laryngeal framework (surgery that alters the cartilage of the voice box), endoscopy, parathyroid, and removal of neck lumps. I perform all these surgeries in both the NHS and the private sector.
I work closely with a speech and language therapist, a singing coach and a neurophysiologist. I have a keen interest in patients with parathyroid problems ie hypercalcaemia and hyperparathyroidism and work closely with our endocrinologists too.
I am a clinical tutor and lead for Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) applications for University Hospitals Birmingham.
I am part of the Faculty for Simulation Training. Simulation training has been crucial for trainee doctors. I am an accredited supervisor for the trainees.
