I have over 20 years' experience as a Consultant Ophthalmologist and am a senior consultant in the Eye Department at the James Paget University Hospital (JPUH). I can empathise with people who need their eye lid problem, watery eye or cataract sorted out in a professional and efficient manner so they can continue to do the things they need to. I have the expertise, experience and skills to help, coupled with a compassionate and accommodating nature. I would be happy to help you given the opportunity to do so.

I have been very active in training and assessment in Ophthalmology during my years as a consultant and have been an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists since 2006 to-date, and held a lead role for the Diploma exam. I am now an international examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and have travelled to Athens and Cairo.

I have been a clinical tutor and educational supervisor for trainees in Ophthalmology for most of my career. I have, until recently, held a lead role in curriculum development at the University of East Anglia Medical School on the special senses module in year three – Neurology and Ophthalmology. Within this role I had responsibility for teaching and assessment of undergraduate medical students. I still have a mentorship role for medical students at the UEA. I enjoy the continued contact with medical students and trainees and value this opportunity to pass on my knowledge and to continue guiding and shaping the doctors and ophthalmologists of tomorrow.

My undergraduate training took place at Sheffield University Medical School before I went on to complete specialist training in Ophthalmology at Moorfields Eye Hospital. Here I met many Ophthalmologists in training from around the world leading to lifelong international connections in Ophthalmology and a more global understanding of eye care provision. This network of colleagues then inspired me to travel to Australia for a Fellowship in Oculoplastic, Corneal and Cataract Surgery at the Royal Perth Hospital, Western Australia.

My first consultant role was at the Royal Free Hospital in London, from where I was lured to work at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in 2004.
