Mrs Laura Baynes

Physiotherapist

BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy

I am passionate about physiotherapy and health, and am very focused on identifying and treating the primary cause of a problem, in order to ensure full resolution and prevention of recurrence and optimal self-management and quality of life.

I suffer from mild scoliosis, which has led me to develop a special interest in the area. Visceral manipulation (gentle mobilisation of the organs) is a unique skill within my 'toolbox', which I feel completes the picture of the assessment and treatment of the human body and biomechanical problems.

I have worked on the orthopaedic wards here at Spire Norwich Hospital since 2013, and joined the outpatient team in 2015.

I trained at Northumbria University in Newcastle in 2005 and began rotations through the various areas of medicine at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. In 2007 I specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. In 2009, I ventured to the Southern Hemisphere and gained registration with the New Zealand Physiotherapy Board. I worked in a private clinic, with a large caseload of sports-related injuries and where there was a strong bias towards manual therapy. I and since returning to the UK in 2010, I have worked in both private practice and GP surgery settings.

I have been a Pilates instructor since 2007, teaching numerous classes, as well as performing one-to-one 'Clinical Pilates'. In addition, I am also trained in ante-natal and post-natal pilates too.
